We install 5- and 6-inch gutters in basically the same way using the same style hangers and methods. However, the larger 6-inch gutter hangers are heavier duty. The hangers that we use will vary somewhat based on the type of application. We are sure you are familiar with the old outdated style of spike and ferral, this may be what you have on your home now. It is nothing more than a really large nail and tube that it rides through. Over time these worm free and cause the gutters to become dislodged.
Many companies still use these for cost reasons; we are not among them. We offer you a very high strength, rigid bar type hanger that is applied to the house using 1 3/4 inch zinc plated screws from the inside of the gutter. From the ground these hangers are totally hidden. No nail heads show, just a clean new gutter pitched out using a level to insure flow and appearance. The above-described hangers make up the lion share of our installations; however different architectures and circumstances compel us to sometime use alternative hangers.
